You may be eligible for a free Windows Vista upgrade
When I wrote my review of the Toshiba Satelite P105-S9722 I didn’t mention anything about the OS, which was installed, if it came with the Vista upgrade or anything, I’ll be honest. I really meant to mention it but I simply forgot. But for those that was looking for that Info, it came with Windows XP Pro installed. One thing I assumed would come with it because I figured it would be the trend with any PC you buy right now, is that it had a Vista upgrade coupon. Well when I was in line to pay for it, I asked the sales person if it came with a Vista coupon and he gave me a blank look like he didn’t know what I was talking about.
Well it did not come with a Vista coupon, and after checking the Toshiba website, it didn’t say anything about a coupon either, so I was like oh well I guess I’ll be buying Vista whenever I feel like I want to upgrade.
Well I didn’t give up and kept searching around and found right on Microsoft’s website, a section where you check to see if you are eligible for a free upgrade to Vista. I put my pc information in and I and now a copy of Vista should be coming to me in about 6-8 weeks.
So heres my tip to you, cause there are quite a few PC owners that may be eligible for a free upgrade that don’t know that they are eligible. The requirements are that first you have to have a qualifying Windows Vista capable PC, you must have purchased your pc between Oct 26 2006 and March 15 2007. If you meet the requirements so far, the next thing you have to qualify is if your PC was made by a participating manufacturer (where there is a drop down list that you choose from). Those manufacturers are:
- Acer
- Alienware
- ASUS
- Dell
- eMachines
- Fujitsu
- Gateway
- Lenovo
- Hewlett Packard
- LG
- Medion
- NEC
- Sony
- Toshiba
If you fit all those qualifications click here to fill out the online form for your Vista Upgrade
You do need your receipt, cause you will have to mail or fax that to Microsoft. and you will need your Certificate of authenticity and serial number so you might want to locate and write that down before you get started.
