The perfect Eee PC or Eee Box companion drive?
As I mentioned yesterday, the Eee box does not include any form of optical drive. No CD, No DVD rom. Out of the box, every piece of Hardware you want to install on that PC will require you to have downloaded the software, or installed over your network (which is a very acceptable option). In all reality, you do need some sort of companion drive, maybe a DVD drive or burner. So I went looking to see what is out there.
I was thinking that I need to find something that is cheap, preferably under $100 bucks. Also, I would want something small. If you own a Eee PC, of coarse you will be carrying that around with you. Even though the Eee Box is a desctop PC, it is still small enough to where you can throw that in your bag to bring with you just like a Notebook PC.
I narrowed my search down to the LITE-ONE USB combo drive (found at New-egg). It only cost about $69 bucks and it reads and writes to just about every optical format (dont be silly, of coarse Bluray isnt included). But the best thing I like, along witht he price, is the size and that it can be fully powered by USB. It does come with a power adapter, and can be used with a power adapter if your USB slots arent up to task.
I dont know if its the perfect EeePC or Eee Box companion, but its one Im looking at right now. Check it out at NewEgg.
