Geforce 8800 gtx box.jpgPeople ask me questions all the time about different PC related things so I’m use to either answering questions or trying to find the answer to someone’s question (I read a lot but I’m in no way the "guru of all things tech or PC related") A couple of days ago I got a call from a friend that likes to do a lot of PC gaming and has pretty much been out of the loop for a while (marriage will do that to some people)

Well he called and said: "Hey David, I want to start gaming again, I saw your website finally and read about the WOW expansion and want to play that game. I need to upgrade my PC and was wondering what video card right now is the absolute best thing I can have in my PC"

Well it didn’t take me long at all to answer that, the obvious answer is Nvidia’s newest card, the Geforce 8800 GTX. The only thing about getting the latest and greatest is that this card alone cost just as much as a PS3. Newegg has it listed for $599.99 and I’m guessing that is on the low end of the pricing spectrum of this card.

What you do get however, is indeed the latest and greatest of all things video game and graphics related. This card is a pretty big leap over any of the next gen consoles and pretty much every other graphics card on the market.

The one listed at Newegg has 768mb video ram and supports the new version of Direct X (Direct X 10) that will start to make its way into gaming after Vista is settled in good.

Put one of these with one of the newer Core2duo Processors and you will be in gaming heaven for about 3 years 1 year 6 months.
