Sony’s sweet looking Mpeg4 camcorder.
This looks pretty sweet. Sony has a new, affordable handheld camera that went on sale today. The Sony Mpeg4 Net Sharing Cam will cost you $199, and looks to be the perfect little camera to record those quick Youtube moments. This 5 megapixel camera has a 2.4" swivel screen. Its capable of taking still images and recording video in 640X480 or 320X240 resolution (mpeg 4). It connects to your PC via USB 1.1 and is capable of video streaming, hence the "net sharing" portion of the name. From the specs it looks like it can be used as a stand alone camcorder and a streaming web cam.
The battery life seems to be pretty decent also, with a 6 hour battery life when using a 8gig memory stick. This leads me to the problem I have with many of Sony’s products, the Sony branded memory sticks and memory stick pro duo, looks like your limited to using those formats.
You can check the press release for more information about the Sony Mpeg4 Net Sharing cam or just head over to Sony Style to purchase it.
