Powering off problems cause T-mobile to halt Sidekick Slide sales
How many people out there are still using Sidekicks? You remember that cool little cell phone messaging device that Vida (nice) and Paris use to carry around. People are still buying them? I’m only kidding, I had the first and second iteration of that device myself and so far nothing has been up to par with its swivel screen and qwerty keyboard. The rest of it is pretty mediocre but I loved that phone. Anyway, if you’ve been keeping up with that popular device, and haven’t gotten the new version, the Sidekick Slide, you might have to wait a little longer for it. According to Engadget, T-mobile is halting sales of the new Sidekick Slide until they can figure out what to do about a little problem they are having.
Whats happening is sometimes when you open the slide portion of the device, it powers the unit off. That can be really annoying. It must be a pretty big deal to stop T-mobile from selling it. It appears that opening and closing the slide interferes with some of the wiring that connects the device to the battery. Causing it to shut off. The good thing is that this appears to only be a temporary halt of sales until they can figure out how to fix the problem.
