One way to get your media in the living room
In the last episode of the Jonzee.com podcast, I talked about the Netgear EVA8000, which is a network media player. This little gem falls in the same category but it goes about it an a little different way.
The Transgear DVX-700 typeII Divx media player has a whole lot of functionality, could be the end all device for people looking to move media around the house. By the looks of it, it looks like a normal DVD player but thats not all it does. The Transgear DVX-700 has a removable Harddrive that can be placed in your PC, connected via USB. Once connected to your PC, you can transfer your media files to the hard drive then replace the HDD back in the Transgear device so that the media can be played through that device on your television.
Thats not all, the Transgear DVX-700 can also be connected to your home network via ethernet port, and through that connection the Transgear can connect to Google Video through a proprietary interface.
The payback media that this device supports is a large list of formats, which include WMV, MPEG 1-2, MPEG 4, DIVX and Xvid. It also supports playback for just about all the Audio formats.
More information on this device can be found here (its in Japanese) no word yet on a US release.
