Jonzee’s Holiday Wishlist item #6…Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse
I am kindof picky about what mouse I use with my PCs. I usually can use any mouse but when I buy one for my main mouse use, I like to stick with that mouse, on every PC I use. Ive been a big fan of Logitech mice in the past but the new Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse looks pretty appealing to me. There are a few things I like my mice to have. I use the middle scroll wheel / mouse button a lot so that is a must, I don’t see how anyone can use a mouse that doesn’t include it. Another thing Ive grown quite fond of is what I would call the thumb buttons. Im not sure if that is the official name or not but they are the buttons that are placed where your thumb rest when you are using a mouse. They are usually used for forward and back when web browsing.
The Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse has a little bit of a different design than what I’m use to using. The buttons are all metal and there are even adjustable weights so that you can make the mouse as light or heavy as you want (from 5 to 30 grams). Overall this mouse looks like it has a nice heavy duty feel to it, which I like. I haven’t actually used one myself yet so that feel is just from looking at the pictures.
Another feature that I like is the adjustable DPI settings. There are 3 buttons on the top of the mouse that will allow you to switch between 400, 800 and 2000 dpi on the fly, which is good for gaming. Also there is a LCD display that lets you know which dpi setting you are using so that you don’t have to fish through the menu’s on your PC for that info.
One thing about the side buttons, or the thumb buttons as I like to call them, they are placed vertically. Most mice I have used has had the thumb buttons placed horizontally so that is something that I would have to get use to. I can see the benefit of vertically placed buttons, being that with most mice, there is always a thumb button that I would have to reach to get to.
This mouse seems like it would be a really expensive mouse, and it does retail for about $80 bucks but this mouse can be found at a lot of places for less. $68 at Walmart and $62 at Amazon.
