Jonzee’s holiday wishlist item #3…Asus Eee PC
When I first heard about the Asus Eee PC, I thought "what in the world would I want with a 7inch notebook?". Since then Ive been checking it out and can find a lot of good uses for a notebook that small and light. Id love to just grab it like a paperback book and bring it with me places with no fuss. I can blog or surf the net on the go, type up documents and even listen to a few MP3s (that I did not steal). Yea its not going to be a powerhouse of a PC but it would be good for a lot of the small things I do.
The Asus Eee PC is unique cause it runs a modified version of Linux and is compatible with a lot of Google’s Apps. Being that the notebook is geared towards a completely portable and budget use, the components also follow suite. The low end model comes with a 4 gig flash hard drive, 512 ram, 900MHZ Processor (Intel), web cam and Wi-Fi / Ethernet connection. Like I said, not a powerhouse, but good enough for the quick and portable use. If you dont want to use Linux, the Eee PC is compatible with Windows, so it is possible to just wipe the HDD and install XP.
Worried about the 4 gig hard drive? Well there is also 3 USB2 ports and a card reader, so you can carry a portable hard drive those time you need more space. The price of the Asus Eee PC 7 inch notebook is $399 but the low end and $499 for the step up. It also comes in Black and Pearl White.
