iPhone owners takes it deep, and love it.
Its been about a week or so since the controversial iPhone price drop. People were upset, People complained, Some complained about the complainers. It has really taken the steam away from the new iPod releases.
I know I said at the time that I was laughing at a co-worker about the price drop, but I hadn’t really stated my opinion about the whole thing, honestly I didn’t much care. What catches my attention is the talk about the whole thing. It seems like there are 3 sides to the whole situation.
- The iPhone owner that doesn’t care nor respond much at all to the whole thing.
- The group of people that think they were ripped off
- The group of people that think "this is the price you pay for being the early adopter, stop whining"
What do I think? which group am I in?
Well the "this is the price you pay for being an early adopter" statement is clearly wrong. Im sorry to all you people out there saying that, calling complainers babies, thinking people are crazy for getting worked up over it. If you find yourself in group 3, know that you are wrong.
The reason why you are wrong is because the iPhone launched 2 months ago at $599.
June 29th the iPhone launched, Sept. 5th the price dropped $200 bucks.
No product, under normal circumstances, drops its price by that much that soon.
No product!!
Just stop it!!
Stop saying "thats technology" it isnt. Anyone that is mad about that price drop have every right to be as flaming mad as they want to be. Stop making excuses for Apple!!!!
They were overcharging you for the iPhone, then released the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch would’ve taken away many of the iPhone sales due to the cheaper price, so they had to drop the price of the iPhone to keep it in line with the rest of the products.
Why didnt they just release the iPhone for $399 at launch?

Ok, I’m not giving everyone else a complete pass….well yes I am, Apple shouldve given everyone a $200 rebate, not a $100. I’ll tell you why I feel this way.
Most of the people that Ive read about, or listened to in podcast have mentioned returning it and rebuying it at the lower price. If it was that simple, then I would tell everyone that fell into category 2 to suck it up and return it. Still reason to complain but you can deal with that.
The problem is, and Im speaking for my area (and am confortable in assuming that its the same for most area’s) most Cell phone companies only have a 14 day return policy….not just AT&T, most of them. Actually I cannot think of one company in my area that has a return policy that goes beyond 14 days.
The 14 day return policy on cell phones is way too short once you start spending 200 bucks or more on cell phones. Once the cell phone start to get expensive, its just like any other electronic device that you buy and not about the cell phone provider anymore. There should be equal time allowed to return a cell phone as it is to return any other electronics item you’d buy in a best buy or circuit city. Thats a whole other complaint on its own.
But yea, you do get sick of hearing the people complain. Their complaining is completely justified.
