I listen to Podcast and MP3’s in my car using my Creative Zen vision M (and sometimes my iPhone). Ive been doing that for a while. The way I have been doing it is by using a cassette adapter plugged into the earphone jack on the music player. Ive tried a few of those FM transmitters but I have never found one that worked that well, until now. Who would’ve thought a somewhat off brand, inexpensive FM transmitter would work better than all of the ones Ive tried before.

The Dynex Universal FM transmitter works like a champ. Its sold at bestbuy and listed on the website as a transmitter for Apple iPod but that is a little misleading. It does work with an iPod, but it only works in the same way it works with any other music player out there.

The device is a FM transmitter but it can also charge your MP3 player. It plugs into your cigarette lighter (or power adapter) and has a lcd screen that shows what station you are using to transmit the FM signal. There is also a headphone jack and a mini USB connection. You can use the included headphone adapter to plug your music player into the headphone jack. You can also use the included mini USB cable to plug your music player into the mini USB connection on the transmitter, that will charge your device. If you have an iPod, or Creative Zen, you know that there is a proprietary cable that connects to those players to charge them, those proprietary connections still have a mini USB jack that will work.

The problem I had with all of the other transmitters Ive used is that the FM connection just didn’t work well. There was always distortion and the signal always went in and out. They have always annoyed me so much that I just ended up using the cassette adapter again, even with the XM radio I once owned. The Dynex however just worked right out of the box and I am pleased.

You can find the Dynex FM transmitter at Bestbuy for $39.99 (was actually priced at $43.99 in the store). If you’d rather get it from Amazon, you might find a little better deal, but it didn’t look like there was that many listed.
