HD Format war may soon be over…thanks to LG
I was very happy to hear this bit of news. Like I said in earlier post, CES will be bring lots of news about new electronic products and right now were going to go
through a "pre" announcement, or "expected" announcement period untill next week when the show starts. But according to Akihabara news, LG will be announcing they will be releasing the first dual format HDDVD/Blu ray drives. Its about time, Everyone is looking for a winner in this HD race, comparing it to Betamax and VHS, but Ive always thought that it will be more like the +R, -R race that happened when writable DVD’s first came about. Of coarse it will probably be a pretty expensive player when you look at the fact that Blu-ray players can cost $1000 or more, and the HDDVD players are about $500. But one things for sure, If this end up being the standard, for future High Definition players, it will probably do more to push the whole idea of upgrading from traditional DVDs than forcing people to make a choice between the 2 formats has done.
