EYE-FI wireless SD card, easy digital photo transfer.
When I first read about the EYE-Fi wireless SD card one thought came to my mind, what use could that possibly be to anyone? I admit, my thinking on what it might be was completely wrong and when I read on, I realized that this is something that could really be useful.
Imagine, you are out taking pictures all day with your digital camera. Usually you have to come home, connect the camera to your PC or Mac and start transferring the pictures you have taken to your PC, then uploading to whatever online picture sharing website that you use to store your pictures. Not only is it time consuming to go through that every time you have a photo session, but it is just a hassle.
The EYE-Fi wireless SD card works like a regular SD card, it has 2 gigs of memory, nothing special there. The useful feature is when you get home, and are within 45-90 feet of your WiFi connection, the card will start to automatically transfer the pictures you’ve taken to your computer. You initially configure it using the web, and in addition to transferring the files to your PC automatically, you can configure it to automatically upload your pictures to one of the supported web photo services (Flickr is included on that list). The Wireless SD card isn’t that expensive either, only about $99 bucks.
