Cingular users will see something a little different soon
If you have cell phone service through Cingular (as do I) something may be a little different soon….like the name of the company. AT&T has announced that soon they will be dropping the Cingular name from all of their products and services and renaming everything to AT&T. This change is an effort to build on the AT&T brand through the products that hasn’t other band names associated with them. I know if you’ve been a customer your thinking "hey wait a minute, didn’t Cingular buy AT&T?" well its a little bit of a complicated story, but in a quick explanation…here goes…
Cingular first bought AT&T wireless as a separate company, in which it changed everything over to Cingular. Then Cingular and AT&T merged but Cingular still had majority control in the company. AT&T made a few deals with other companies wich in turn ended up giving AT&T majority control of the company. Now AT&T wants to re brand Cingular’s cell service.
Thats not the complete detail but its the quick and dirty explanation. As far as I know, other than a name change, nothing else should be any different with Cingular.
