Build a Gaming PC for the Price of a PS3 - Part 4
Last but not least, probably the most important part of the system when it comes to gaming performance, the video card. I looked for a while and made adjustments to the whole system to try to fit in a really good video card/price balance. The system so far has a Core 2 Duo Processor (although not the fastest one offered), 1 GB ram and the video card choice would be the one that would pretty much make or break this setup. After a lot of looking around I settled for a card I found over at buyxg.com
- EVGA Nvidia 7950 GT, 550MHZ, 256MB vram Dual CRT-DVI outputs PCI-Express (oem)

OK now I know I cheated a little bit, I didn’t include a floppy disk drive, Mouse and keyboard, or any type of gamepad (the 360 gamepad should work nicely for this). Those things aren’t that expensive and are thing that could potentially be optional…hey Im looking for the cheapest way to get a gaming PC and personally would just use the mouse and keyboard I already have. As far as the floppy drive, that is something else that isn’t really needed. If you absolutely have to have it to format your drive or something, you really could just pick one up from walmart and take it back after your done.
But the main thing is, for around $600 bucks, you would have yourself a PC that would play most of today’s games nicely, and would sufficiently serve as a good alternative to a PS3.
Now this is just web surfing that got me these parts, If you are interested in seeing how this would work out in the real world, I would love to build it, try it out, and let you all know how it works.
Feel free to donate a few bucks to help me do that.
