A Mouse that doesnt hurt?
My wife has been having problems lately with pain while using her computer. She works with computers on a daily basis and there’s really no way to get around having to use a mouse (which is what is causing her problems). I decided to check to see if there were any options out there that would allow her to use a mouse in a relaxed position. Ive found an option that may work for some that are having those problems. Its actually pretty cheap.
Fish Handheld Mouse
This mouse found at USBGEEK.com was the first thing I found that seemed worth a try. Its a wired (USB) handheld mouse that works similar to a pointing device you would use if you are giving a powerpoint presentation. As you can tell by the picture, you hold it in your hand and the mouse buttons are on the bottom, like triggers. The top of the mouse has a trackball that you use with your thumb to move the cursor around on your screen. The problem my wife is having, the way she described it to me, has a lot to do with hand/arm placement on the desk while using her mouse. She just cant find a comfortable way of placing her harm where it doesn’t bother her while clicking around on the screen. This mouse would allow her to have her arm in any position, as long as the cable is long enough to reach.
While it seems perfect, I see another problem that can occur. While researching this mouse, I read a few reader reviews that suggest that the trackball is a little on the stiff side. All I can think of is the problems I had with the PSP, which eventually caused me to sell it. Moving your thumb like that on a trackball that fights back may end up causing a different variation of the same problem.
The good thing about this mouse is that it is cheap. With a price tag of $12 bucks, it would be easy to pick it ub just to try out and not a big deal if it doesn’t work for you.
