Now the first thing I went looking for is a decent, but cheaper priced processor, using my Notebook as a comparison (my notebook has pretty much played every game I’ve thrown at it pretty well at the higher graphic settings). I looked at the AMD dual core and the Intel core 2 duo processors. I fiddled around with the different options and processors and settled on this bundle from smksuperstore.com

This bundle included some of the things that was on my list and cut down some of the cost from when I first started. It includes:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8GHZ) with a standard CPU fan/heatsink
  • Standard Black PC case w/450 Watt Power supply (black)
  • Asus P5vd2-mx se Motherboard (includes lan, 8 USB ports, 6 channel sound)

Price $208.95

Next I went looking for Ram, I would like to get 2 GB’s of ram, but found it would be hard to hit the $600 target, so I settled on 1GB, which should be good enough to get your gaming on, with the option to upgrade later. Over at PartsPC.com, I found a deal that seem too good to be true, but it’s listed…maybe for a limited time so if you’re following this and plan to buy some of the items, you might want to get it quick.

  • Micro X 1 GB PC5300/PC5400 DDR2 667mhz ram (1 stick)
